Who We Are
Legit Check KE (legitcheck.co.ke) is Kenya’s community-powered seller verification platform. We help Kenyan consumers verify the legitimacy of online sellers on Instagram, TikTok, and Jiji before making purchases. Our registered address is Nairobi, Kenya. What Information We Collect
When you create an account on Legit Check KE, we collect your username, email address, and optionally your phone number. Your phone number is used solely to help verify the authenticity of reviews you submit — it is never shared publicly or sold to third parties.
When you submit a review or report a seller, we store the content of your submission along with your account details, the date and time of submission, and your IP address for fraud prevention purposes.
We also collect standard web analytics data through Google Analytics (anonymized IP addresses, pages visited, time spent on site) to help us improve the platform.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to operate and improve the Legit Check KE platform, to verify the authenticity of reviews, to prevent abuse and spam, to respond to your inquiries, and to send you important updates about the platform if you have opted in to receive them.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We do not use your information for advertising targeting.
Reviews and Public Content
Reviews and reports you submit on Legit Check KE are published publicly under your chosen username. Do not include personal identifying information in your review text that you do not wish to be publicly visible. Your email address and phone number are never displayed publicly.
All reviews must be based on genuine personal experience. Submitting false, defamatory, or misleading reviews is a violation of our Terms of Service and may have legal consequences under Kenyan law.
M-Pesa and Payments
Legit Check KE does not currently process M-Pesa or any other payments directly. Any future payment features will be processed through licensed payment providers and will be subject to their own privacy policies. We will never ask for your M-Pesa PIN.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you logged in to your account and to collect anonymized analytics data via Google Analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features of the platform may not function correctly without them.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Your password is stored in encrypted form and is never visible to our staff. However, no internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate data, and to request deletion of your account and associated personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@legitcheck.co.ke. We will respond within 14 days.
If you delete your account, your reviews will be anonymized rather than deleted, as they form part of the community record that other users rely on for safety.

Legit Check KE uses the following third-party services which have their own privacy policies:
- Google Analytics — website analytics (Google Privacy Policy)
- Truehost Cloud — web hosting (servers located in Kenya)
Children’s Privacy
Legit Check KE is not intended for use by persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Legit Check KE after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
