Getting scammed online is devastating, but there are steps you can take to try and recover your money. This guide covers everything you need to know about reporting scams and seeking refunds in Kenya.
Act Immediately – Time is Critical
The faster you act, the better your chances of recovering funds. Within the first 24-48 hours:
1. Contact Safaricom Immediately (M-Pesa)
- Call 234 (M-Pesa helpline) or *234#
- Report the fraudulent transaction

Bank Reversals
If you paid via bank transfer:
- Contact your bank immediately

Small Claims Court
For amounts up to KES 1 million, you can file in Small Claims Court:
